The sixth, seventh, and eighth commandments move "outward" towards wider societal considerations. It is interesting to note that God has started his commandments with the closest and most important relationship, then the next closest, and the next. The amount of time spent on each relationship also demonstrates the relative importance of each.
Starting at God, if we get that relationship right, the rest will come more easily. And if we get family right too, we already have a solid foundation for our relationships with everyone in wider society.
