DVP087 Judges 6:14-15 (March 28)

14 And the LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?"
15 And he said to him, "Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house."

Gideon was one of the well known Judges and was commissioned for God by a visit from the angel of the Lord. His task was to free Israel from the Midian oppression.

Gideon questions God's calling of his clan to save Israel since they are so insignificant. But God is the one who gives the victory despite their weakness.

This is the same misconception that Israel had during the Exodus. God seemed to take special pleasure in stacking the odds against Gideon's success so that God would get more glory in the victory. This sends us a clear message of hope in even the hardest of circumstances to bear. Nothing is too mighty for God to overcome. No odds are impossible for him.
